Scream Scram Race a Huge Success!
Bang Salon was a main sponsor at the 10th Annual Scream Scram in Washington Park again for the 8th year in a row. The race is a 5K run/walk around Washington Park all to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. This year, Bang Salon stylists were divided into teams and showed their creativity by interpreting a scary movie into the hair of a model. They were responsible for hair, makeup and wardrobe. The participants in the race than voted at the Bang Salon booth for thier favorite interpretation. "It was a lot of fun to be able to show our work other than day-to-day hairstyles," Lisa Garcia, Bang Salon owner said. "Rodger and I were very proud of how much work and creativity they put into the project." The race has raised over $60,000 for Multiple Sclerosis in the last ten years.
Bang Salon at Wash Park Celebrates 10 years!
It doesn't seem possible, but it has been ten years since we opened our doors on Alameda and Downing in the great neighborhood of Washington Park. It all started when we bought a house in the neighborhood and saw the building that is now our salon being renovated. Since we were in the process of searching for a space to open a new salon, we thought it was the perfect spot. We knew we were taking a risk by moving out of Cherry Creek and expecting to open a "high-end" hair salon, but we had the confidence that we were able to offer more than what is expected and clients would be willing to step out of their comfort zone. We were right and since that time, we have seen more than 30,000 different clients come through our doors. We have had a tremendous experience these past ten years meeting new clients and creating an atmosphere that keeps them coming back for more! We couldn't be happier with the success that we have had and we look forward to another ten years! Thank you to all of the clients and Bang Salon employees who have been loyal to us throughout our experience!

Models Needed
Our assistants are always looking for models to cut and color for their Advanced Training classes. Classes are typically held on a monday evening and models must have the appropriate hair for the service that is being performed. Services will range in price from no charge to a discounted price depending on the service. All classes are supervised by our education team and services can expect to take longer than normal. If you are interested please contact any of our salons for more information or to see if you qualify.to put your name on a call list.
*Please note that models are required to receive the service that they are volunteering for. You must sign a model release form before services are performed.
We're Going Green!
As a Colorado small business, we are always looking for ways that we can reduce our impact on the environment. When one of our employees told us about Exel Energies Windsource option for renewable energy, we didn't hesitate to sign up. Windsource offers us a means to meet environmental goals, achieve LEED certification and position ourselves as environmental leaders. We also have upgraded our trash removal to Single-Stream Recycling. This allows us to commingle all trash in the same container and our waste management company will sort it out at the plant. Other than rinsing the glass and recyclable plastic, it takes very little effort on our part. Single-stream is also efficient in that it cuts down on collection vehicles and allows greater material compaction. Over time, this will reduce the energy required during collection. If you have any other suggestions on how we might make our salons even "greener", please let us know, we would love to hear your suggestions!

Bang Salon Courage Classic Team
Join Bang Salon in their third annual Courage Classic Bicycle Ride for Children's Hospital. We are still looking for enthusiastic bicyclists who want to ride for a cause. Stylists Receive Continuing Education
We strongly believe in the continuing education for all our stylists and colorists and even owners. It is so important to keep up to date on what is happening in the industry as well as keeping ourselves motivated to achieve the best possible styles and environment for our clients. Rodger and Lisa recently returned from a week-long trip to New York for a Bumble and Bumble Business course. They are very excited to implement new ideas for their stylists and clients.
Each of our stylists has also recently undergone some type of intense education to achieve new looks and techniques. Many of these educational trips include classes in New York at the L'Oreal, Wella, or Bumble and Bumble Academies.
Bang Salon Sponsors Semi-Pro Cycling Team
Bang Salon is proud to be a four-time sponsor for the semi-pro cycling team "Haul'n' Ass." "We are so excited to be a part of this innovative and hip group of cyclists," Lisa Garcia said. "It has created a new means of promotion for us and we love it!" So if you are an avid cyclist or even cycle on a minimal basis, look out for our team on the trails or in races wearing a Bang Salon jersey!

Park Hill Wins Prestigious Award
Bang Salon Park Hill was awarded the 2006 Salon of the Year by Salon Today Magazine. The salon was one of 20 salons that received this superlative award throughout the country. Winners were chosen based on the design, innovative interiors, unusual themes, and creative use of space which makes them virtually irresistible to their guests and staff members. The judges said Bang Salon provided a "smart choice using vivid color for a color salon; it looks alive." The architectural firm was Mark Hoskin Architects, and the project architect was Marek Skovranek of Tesserah Project Management.
Wash Park Salon Wins International Award
Bang Salon was a semi-finalist for the Global Salon Business Awards, which recognizes and honors the world's leading hairdressing salon owners. Hundreds of candidates were considered for the awards and finalists were chosen on the basis of who has mastered the business, management, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills necessary to enjoy true business success. "It's an honor to be recognized by these distinguished national and international salon industry organizations," said Rodger Garcia, owner of Bang Salon.
